MAJOR MINOR 1
This painting is inspired by my Major Minor principles. Minor chords produce a sense of tension while major chords bring me back to comfort. The cloud and lightning represent the tension in life (minor chords) while the rain flows down to the comforting pool below (major chords).

MAJOR MINOR 2
In this oil painting I use my Major Minor principles to depict the earth as a living being that I walk on. For instance, the trees, river, clouds and fields bring me joy and comfort, like major music chords. The idea of earth as a living being brings me inner soul searching, like minor music chords.

GOLD
I've always had a great time in the gold country. It's the seat of the 1848 California gold rush and has so much history. This painting is a composite of my memories of that area with the American River and farm lands dotting the valley below the Sierra foothills..

THE GAME
This small oil painting was inspired by a bunch of guys meeting up for a late Saturday afternoon softball game. But the real point to this painting is the kid with his dog sitting on the hill watching the game. It's kind of like sitting high in the bleachers.

THE PATH TO DREAMS
The path I painted symbolically leads to dreams and reflections. In my life I've walked many paths and dreamed many dreams. I've had paths of success, failure, joy and laughter. The path leads to the reflection of those past, present and future dreams.

VICTORY
I was inspired to paint this bald eagle as he takes off and ascends high into the morning sky. I thought of the many symbols associated with this bird and while I was painting I was focused on the wisdom of positive, uplifting courage and power. And reaching higher than I sometimes think I'm capable of attaining.

STARRY FLIGHT
Birds are the last living descendants of dinosaurs. This ancient power made me think of the bald eagle as he soared with the stars, a symbol of his spirited courage in the approaching blue hour of twilight.  Magnificent, I thought. I want to capture this on canvas.

MEMORIES
This is a black and white etching with enhanced watercolor that I made many years ago and just recently brought out from my archives. I still love the grit of ink on metal and then transferred to paper. This print was a composite of random thoughts brought into order. It's what I imagined a day in the mind of a dog might be like...just random thoughts.
